Appalling that, really.
Thanks so much for responding quickly, in the context of being actual humans and not robots made for the purpose of putting games and patches up ;)
And I'm already on board that if GoG has the game, it's my preferred place to buy, but talking about Steam like it's unusable garbage is somewhat uninformed. Offline mode works very well, I can tell you from experience as I've had to use it the last four months running and am using it now, too. Origin is the worst offender for Offline Mode sucking, since a system restart forces you to log back in to verify the account - now that is obnoxious.
GoG's DRM-free is obviously the best of the methods of protecting games - trust your users and be rewarded with lots of money and respect. That is not in dispute. But I feel it's a bit silly to rage against the Steam machine when it isn't really as described in the thread. That sounds more like a second-hand opinion than someone who has actually used it extensively. You're describing how Steam was three years ago, not how it is today :p
Of course, GoG has been rock solid since day one what with the no DRM at all, so advantage team GoG, but again, that's not in dispute :)
TBH, never liked Steam (there's the plus side of achievements in games to showing off, sure, same can be done on Xfire), but I still prefer DRM-free games :)

Yeah, I would really appreciate fast patch updates from GoG.com so I don't have to ninja install them.

So, does anyone know where or how to download the update? I can't seem to find an update button in game or anything like that, and I can't seem to find the download on their site.

Seems like buying this game from Gog.com was a mistake IMO. Should've just relied on steam. Oh well.

They fixed that ages ago. If you mean during account sharing I won't argue against it considering it's not supposed to be allowed so expecting it would work is futile.>Requiring to be ONLINE to play a single player game

I've always been a huge fan of GOG and CDP in general, but it is somewhat disappointing that it takes them a bit to roll out updates, especially considering the much smaller game library than something like Steam.
I bought this on GoG even though it was watching the videos on Steam that 'sold it' to me, but at this exact, very moment I kinda wish I'd gone ahead and bought it on Steam so I could have it all patched up.
But then again, the patch hasn't been live for /that/ long, so we're not talking unruly delays here, just a bit of inconvenience.
I've got a few hundred games on Steam and a smaller collection here, but I feel these have more value - I feel like I own them. Steam is a great service too and covers a different niche. But I have always enjoyed the relative, almost conspiratorial intimacy that GoG presents, of being 'all in it together' against publishers' conventional wisdom that DRM is a must in these days of easy piracy, blah blah blah blah. I <3 GoG, just want them to update this so I can make with the adventuring.. there are a LOT of bug fixes in that patch, heh.
Re: Steam requiring always online, that's really not true anymore. Its offline mode is robust and functional. Same with Origin, same with Uplay. Three services that get maligned for a requirement that they don't actually have. You do have to have an original link to the server to start offline mode, but once set, it's good for a long time before you need to check in (Steam, that is - Origin needs to check in every restart, and Uplay has been neutered to the point that it can default to 'start in offline mode' and doesn't cause any trouble that way ever).
GoG is my favorite service, and I like giving them money when the option is there, but there's no need to be unfair to other services in the process. GoG has so many merits of its own, hardly any need to make the competition look artificially worse when GoG can get the sale just because they're earnest and doing the right thing and offer great support and you OWN your games. :)
Speaking of support, that patch, yeah, any time now. I'm sure. Right? :-o

Hey guys,
We should be getting the latest version of the game to you some time today provided everything goes well. Sorry it's taking too long for some folks but keep in mind that the patch did arrive over the weekend when we have off. Thanks for your patience :D.

I didn't even think about the fact that you guys, while curating a smaller library, actually do have some do-it-yourself parts and would be off for the weekend! Steam is just automated, this is part of what I mean when I say the intimacy of GoG. Hope you all had a great weekend and I look forward to getting this good not so old game patched up when you get it to the server :) We should be getting the latest version of the game to you some time today provided everything goes well. All that 'offline mode' means is that if you take your laptop on vacation, then you *might* need to get an internet connection to play single-player games rather than that you'll definitely need one running the whole time. I'd rather wait 48 hours for a patch than not actually own the games I buy. God forbid GoG employees should get weekends.

It's more significant than that, Steam's process is automated - there's no curator that isn't made of code, so of course patches roll out automatically. It's apparently not so automated with GoG, which is fine with me, they need to make sure it's all compatible and it's that extra touch that makes GoG worth investing in. And I'm already on board that if GoG has the game, it's my preferred place to buy, but talking about Steam like it's unusable garbage is somewhat uninformed. Thanks GOG people for the update. Love the game so far.
I was just wondering about the patch because their site didn't really tell how or where to download it. It just gave a post about the patch.
